Description

Author Terry Pellman takes you through an exhausting maze of danger, treachery and moral angst. Why Averton? Who would bring death and destruction to such a place? Kelly Hastings was looking forward to a quiet retirement after a stellar career with the Averton Police Department. The Chief of Detectives was enjoying his recent remarriage, having put his wandering eye to rest. He has found that the elementary school principal he married was eager and willing to ensure that his libido was well taken care of. If only she were not haunted by self -doubts regarding her own levels of passion.Their lives are shaken when Averton, Ohio becomes the target of bombings and murder. Kelly must deal with the fact that his mentor, the Chief of Police, is in failing health, leaving him to carry much of the burden of a small city reeling in fear and suspicion.A close friend to Kelly complicates matters by coordinating a local defense organization whose actions and capabilities quickly take on a level of seriousness that alarms him. And when similar bombings take place in other American cities with similar characteristics to Averton, the local defense cadre begins to extend its reach.Kelly must deal with further tragedy and loss, the crosscurrents of anxiety among the residents, and divided loyalties. But the last things he expected was yet another erotic temptation that would alter his life forever. The question remains: Why Averton?
