Batman Arkum Asylum is a top quality game, it's a must own if you like Batman and is just an awesome action game in it's own right.
The GOTY version includes new Trioviz 3D technology. It differs from the more traditional coloured 3D glasses technology. Firstly, and most obviously it uses different coloured lenses.
Secondly, and more importantly is the way in which the 3D works. It's not the “pop out of your sreen 3D”, instead it adds depth to an image as though the screen of your television is in the foreground and everything else is further back.
It works really nicely, and as always is best viewed at night in complete darkness if possible, plus your eyes will take about 30 seconds to “calibrate” themselves.
The only problem with the implementation in Batman is there is no option in the software to calibrate the colours in the game so that your display device matches Trioviz intended colours. So, you may see some added blurring on distant objects (where depth of field blurring naturally occurs), and in some cases visible coloured lines.
I wouldn't suggest re-buying the game for the 3D effect, but if you are first time buyer like myself, consider yourself lucky to have waited. I have also read that the PS3 version takes a bigger framerate hit from the Trioviz renderer for some reason, so if you do buy make sure to buy the PC or XBOX 360 version.
