- Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox introduced harder rock elements as well as R&B to their well-established electro sound for their fourth studio album. They also called upon three superstars to guest on the LP: Aretha Franklin (on the searing anthem “Sisters Are Doin’t It For Themselves”), Stevie Wonder (who played harmonica on “There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart))”, the duo’s first No.1 single in the UK. And Elvis Costello (who blended his vocals with Annie’s on “Adrian”).
- The album’s first single, “Would I Lie To You?”, stormed across America combining the rock sound of the Kinks with the R&B feel of the Supremes, according to Rolling Stone, while the fourth single, “It’s Alright (Baby’s Coming Back),” was evocative of the “Dusty In Memphis” album by one of Lennox’s famed British predecessors, Dusty Springfield.
- 180 gram vinyl, with the packaging and artwork replicating the original versions.
