Author Biography

Ulrich Baer was born in Germany, moved to California as a teenager, and was educated at Harvard and Yale. He is the editor of 110 Stories: New York Writes After September 11, the author of Spectral Evidence: The Photography of Trauma, and the author and editor of several books and essay collections on photography and poetry. In 2007 he lived in Shanghai on a Guggenheim Fellowship. He speaks English, German, French, army Hebrew, kitchen Spanish and thinks he knows enough Chinese to navigate Shanghai like a native. Baer lives in New York City.
