I have been thoroughly enjoying the Bergerac series – a great introduction to a fine actor. Would recommend viewing as it gives an insight into the later series of Midsomer Murders. Excellent purchase. Jean Khan.

Description

Handsome, blue-eyed and brooding, maverick cop Detective Sergeant Jim Bergerac of Jersey’s Bureau des Étrangers is one of television’s most popular detectives.

Moving with the power of Bergerac’s vintage red Triumph Roadster sports car, each episode guarantees full-throttle excitement, ingenious plots and colourful characters as Bergerac patrols the harbour cafes, cliff-top mansions and secluded coves on the trail of the villains, murderers, spies and smugglers of the holiday island and tax haven.

Series Seven finds Bergerac troubled in his work and love life. With Barney Crozier moving up the promotional ladder yet again, the future of the Bureau is in jeopardy – although, of course, Charlie Hungerford is still around to keep the detective busy! Meanwhile, Bergerac's relationship with Susan Young is heading straight for the rocks, leaving a path open for the return of Philippa Vale – aka, the Ice Maiden.

Combining action with atmosphere, and spectacle with suspense, BERGERAC launched John Nettles to international stardom for 9 series, leading him to another long-running role as D.C.I. Barnaby in Midsomer Murders. For the first time, all 8 uncut episodes from the seventh series arrive on DVD, plus the 1989 feature-length Christmas Special.

This three disc set also includes an eclusively recorded Audio Commentary with John Nettles and Louise Jameson.
