The most famous North American train robber is Bill Miner, a.k.a. the gentleman train robber. How does a notorious thief manage to escape from prison and hide-out unrecognized under an assumed name? The novel is a hypothetical account of Bill Miner's life as an outlaw on the run. The book has two time lines: the present, May, 1999 and the past period August 1907 to September 1909.
