The first game I played was pretty good, and showed exactly how much thought Warlord Games has put into the mechanics of the game. Even without using the cards, the game plays smoothly and requires forethought to achieve victory.

The quality of the planes, cardboard, and stands is excellent. The detail on the planes really blows my mind, and I'm rather keen to start painting them. The only letdowns, as far as the game goes, are the cards (stock is a bit ‘cheap’, maybe I'm spoiled by FFG's), and some of the images in the manual.

Other than that, this is exactly what Star Wars: X-Wing should have been.

This box has everything you need, the Rules are simple and take very little time to get into (there are 2 games on youtube I also watched played before I bought this box set and that helped with learning the rules too). My wife who doesn't play tabletop games loves it and we've played at least once a week since I got this game. Excited to add to my Air Forces.
