Description

Born to be Free is divided into three parts. The first part is about the essence of what the author learned regarding the beauty and power in our founding principles as the founder of The Jack Miller Center for Teaching America's Founding Principles and History, and as a result of participating in its programs and interacting with so many professors. In this section he describes the country's mission statement put forth in the Declaration of Independence, and explains the meaning of the principles it sets forth and how the Constitution was designed to achieve and protect these principles. The second part of Born to be Free describes The Jack Miller Center and how what seemed an impossible task, getting these teachings back onto college campuses, turned into the huge success it has become. He explains how, as a result of training young post docs and professors at summer institutes, a network of over 900 professors teaching on over 300 college campuses across the country was built; and describes the growing program, which now includes High School Teachers' Academies, helping high school civics teachers include America's Founding Principles and History in their classes. The third part of the book gives a brief history of the author's life and explains why education regarding America's founding principles and history is so important to him and why he has committed so much of his time and so many millions of dollars to this project.
