Description

These poems were inspired by letters written by the people of Wales. The letters were mostly written by soldiers and some by their family. All are about people who were immediately affected by the terrible battle for Mametz Wood, in July, 1916. It was one of a multitude of battles collectively known as the Battle of the Somme. In one sense, these poems are intended as an indictment against the stupidity, arrogance and callousness of leadership.
