The Chili's first album since the return of guitarist John Frusciante and arguably one of the best albums of the '90s, Californication is a must-have album for 14 reasons. The only lacklustre track for me is the slow ballad Porcelain, which is a stark contrast to the funky rock sound that the of the majority of the album puts across so well.
Leading track Around the World, and its following track Parallel Universe provide an intense introduction to the album, but it's not all fast-paced – title track Californication, Scar Tissue and Road Trippin' in particular show the Chili's slower side and help to create an album that is as rocking as it is mellow and worth listening to from start to finish every time.
