Call of Duty: Black Ops (Classics) reviews

Been hiring this game for a while, so I thought it was time to add it to my collection.

I have never been so dissapointed, insulted and overall confused by a game in all my life. I pre ordered this game and have eagerly waited its release for some time now, and upon starting the campaign I realised a few things 1 I just payed $140 for an expansion 2 It worse than the rest 3 The worst AI I have experienced on xbox 360. I really hope people see this game for what it is, and that is an insanely expensive expansion that is worse than the ones before. For treyarch to release a game with so many obvious flaws is honestly insulting to me, I will be selling it as soon as I can. First few missions I witnessed my team mates running past the enemy and standing next to the enemy with out shooting them, another thing I found was that the enemy would run past my team mates in hordes and only shoot at me as if my team mates didnt exist. Now I know people mainly buy CoD titles for the mulitplayer so heres a little on that, it is exactly the same, you have been charged $140 for new maps slightly different perks(something brands like epic and bungie sell for 800 microsoft points) and a crap campaign. They keep chucking the same product out, the only thing that changes is the price, which goes up.

Another brilliant call of duty installment, With a better more intense campaign than mw2 and the always fun to play zombie mode is back. Online multiplayer nw has splitscreen option for when you have a mate around so you no longer hafto share, The new ranking system makes for a different more customizable player experance. Get black ops and have a dam good time, Even with it's flaws (that most games have) It Won't Dissapoint. Thanks mightyape your the BEST!!!!!

I'll start with the good – I think the multiplayer feels more realistic then modern warfare 2's arcade style. Now I can go on forever about how bad it is but I'll only list a few things to give you an idea.

• if you get yellow bars (2 bars out of 5) for connection quality you should just quite right there its way to hard to get kills iv had countless obvious hits/shoots on target without them registering.
• COD points suck because you can get to level 20 and unlock I.e. A m14 but it dosnt matter that you got to level 20 because you still need 2000cod points to get it and then if you do buy it and never use it there is NO refunds so unlucky for you and thanks for your 2000point donation + everything and I mean everything cost's points and you get about 300 a game if your lucky.
• people have been playing this game for months I'm sure even though it just came out, everyone knows all the maps, has all the weapons and knows spawn points therefore spawn kills.
• graphics and physics are mediocre / bodys still die with preloaded animation Which looks unrealistic and stupid , and the graphics look beyond dated and are uncomparable to similar superior games like bad company 2.

I can list more but if you don't get the idea I highly recommend if you are intrested in this game hire it first or just avoid it all together, this is my opinion but also 5 of my friends who are die hard fans of call of duty and are looking at selling this or taking it back because they are very disappointed in black ops. It is also way overpriced I know mightyape got a deal but RRP=150. THERE IS NO JUSTIFICATION FOR THIS PRICE.

Call of Duty Black ops is awesome. The campaign is the best storyline of the series yet, and the voice acting is top notch with Sam Worthington, Gary Oldman and Ed Harris doing a great job. And there are a few good twists in there as well. But the main part of this game is the online Multiplayer. Treyarch have done it a bit differently this time, and instead of just unlocking guns, launchers, and equipment, you have to use credits gained through gameplay to purchase them. Including your perks! I was a little dubious of this at first but it actually gives you more freedom to customise your setup from an earlier stage. One of the disapointments initially is that you can't have a shotgun as a secondary weapon. But it has stopped a few of those shotty spammers you used to get in Modern Warfare 2. All in all this is a top game and worth every penny scrimped and saved of your hard earned. You won't regret it!

The game is ok. The bad: The colours on the maps are bland and grey. The sound is terrible. All the guns are underpowered. The campain is uninspiring compared to other titles such as Halo, cod 4 and Gears of War. The good: Zombies is a lot of fun and 4 player. There aren't too many unballance issues in multiplayer. Dophin diving is awesome!!!

this game was the first ever shooting game ive played and i have preferred sport or racing games in the past, but call of duty black ops is so awesome its a tad hard to explain, the graphics are great, the campaign is great especially how its so hard on veteran but i eventually finished it :) , multiplayer online is something new to me but even thats still awesome, the RC-XD is such a great idea to put into a shooting game, i love this game so much that its a defo 10 out of 10

Hey FPS FANS! Black ops is a really different game compared to COD-MW. It has different graphics (not great), new maps, guns, gameplay and different modes like zombies (very fun!). I suggest if you buy this you should get ONLINE play!

Fantastic game great for 4 players excellent graphics

The main reason I bought this was it was the only game which lets up to 4 players play against bots on a split-screen local game. It was definitely worth buying. If you are like me and have two other siblings who just love fps games, this is the best game to buy. You won't ever have to wait for your turn to play anymore (but of course, with the exception of playing against real people online).

This game is totally awesome, graphics are mint on full HD and the multiplayer is addictive as hell

as soon as i turned on my console i felt wet in my pants. i mean OMG this game is truly amazing. its the next best thing having actual sex. the visual and verbal effects of the game will turn you on if you are a boy or girl. All i can say is black ops is the most orgasmic game in the history of the world.

Short and sweet. The Black-Ops experience is a complete rehash of MW2, so why would you want it? Although the campaign is disappointing and full of forgettable characters and set pieces, its still worth playing as COD campaigns are always great. However it seems Treyarch just played MW1 and 2 and just writ down a bunch of plot and focal points and tried to top it, which ends up disappointing throughout.

The multiplayer however is a different beast, fixing all the horrendous unbalanced gameplay that riddled the MW2 experience. On top of that adding a new currency system where you must purchase all upgrades and weaponry with Ingame COD-points, ensures the multiplayer is the best the series has to offer.

In short, if you have online, buy now. But if you don;t and wish to purchase Black-Ops purely for the campaign, everything that is done here has been done countless times before, and better.

Wow when I heard who was making this game I was quite excited as WaW was choice. But this game is even worse than Mw2 overall game play on line suxs its to easy been playing the game for 1day, 13hrs actual game play and I am already level45 4th prestige theres no fun in this. Zombies are shit same game engine as WaW and campaign mode is dumb AI are not even worth having there. Overall I am very disappointed that I waisted my money on buying this game, not very enjoyable.

Definitely worth getting, though the campaign can be a challenge, it's still possible. Zombie maps are wicked! A lot of fun when you team up with mates online!

Great Game! Even though there are parts about this game im not to keen on, its still a fantastic game. Amazing storyline with an awsome twist at the end that I never saw coming.

Multiplayer is alright and will keep you entertained for quite some time with its awsome Create a class, emblem editor and awsome custom game-settings.

Combat training was also another great addition.

Realistic Sound Effects and Ambient sounds.

MW2 was a great game and I never thought it could be beaten but black ops is amazing and a must have game.

Might be short compared to the other games, but still very good. Controlling the troops from the Blackbird plane, to absailing down cliffs. Worth getting, and Zombies addition from WoW. Get it now!

Just like the previous call of duty games. Its kept an intense campaign storyline, and great multiplayer. But now with alot of improvements, add ons and new features. Reccomended =)

Much anticipated, COD surely delivers what it promised. And more. Campaign is okay, you can quickly go through it, probably 5–6 hours tops. But Multiplayer really is the reason to buy this game. Didn't think it could, but it tops MW2!

If you are into FPS, this is the game to have!

This game will be the game of the year. It is AWESOME! I loved MW2 but this just blew me away. Okay maybe the online had bugs but its already been patched. Its great with the quick updates it will keep all the gamers happy :) this is a must buy!!!!! and with mighty apes prompt delivery it makes it better.

Awesome game took me a while to get use to it from playing modern warfare 2 so much but once I had got the hang of the online multi player I really started to enjoy myself playing through a variaty of supurb maps. After playing the multi player for a while I played the zombies game mode and it definitely lived up to the expections of it being a thrill to play. Even though I didnt do so well in the zombies game mode I thought the zombies looked a lot more realisic than they did on worl at war. I highly reccomend this game to eny buyers.

It doesnt deserve the Call Of Duty title in its cusred name. Black ops sucks. Just imagine this: the match is starting you respawn excited to cause some mindless destruction suddenly you die you dont know who killed you or where they are you respawn again the same thing happens…over and over again.

There is so much to do on this game like not only the standard Mutliplayer but combat training or Zombies. So if you arent that good at Mutliplayer then play Combat training on a low setting that will get you killstreaks which then you can play with the big toys eg Choopergunner or Hind.

Kids asked me to replace origional as it got wrecked by my 1 yearold grandaughter hmmm well THEY are happy so is my grandaughter

This game was by far one of the worst single player games out there, I finished the game on the hardest difficulty in no time at all and no trouble, the graphics were the worst I have seen in a lone time.

The only positive for this game was multi player, good work.

I love this game its jam packed of action and its quite good with strategy id have to say its best if u use online and play verses or even better zombies

This game is a rally cool to play and the zombie part of it is fun too.

Another great Call of Duty game,good gameplay,pilotable helicopter gunship and plenty of dlc. the latest dlc pack is the rezurrection zombies map with the four original zombies map from World at War and a new map set on the Moon.

One of the most fun games iv played in a long thime

Zombies were amazing in Black ops and can not wait for other great maps packs (DLC)! To all that are thinking of buying this game in my books 10/10.

You get your moneys worth here…lots of game types and plenty of updated map packs.

In my own opinion I think that black ops is so far the best out of the series . I mean it has local searching no quick scopers like in MW2. hardly anyone noob tubes .

The campaign of black ops has got to be the best campaign iv ever played. But to me the multi-player isn't the best. Iv found my self after a week of playing online going back to playing Modern Warfare 2. But Modern Warfare 1 still has the best multi-player. Its so simple its perfect. Black ops is just 2 “intense” you may say. Iv been playing the call of duty series for around 3 years so I know what im talking about lol. But to me black ops is what I call. “Noob friendly”

This game has a campagne that bets modernwarfear but an online that lets down with the most liklyest place to get a kill behind you.

I was so psyched for this game, thought it was gona be way better than all other CODs but the story was to much like a movie, unrealistic and too eventful. The multiplayer also a letdown.. got bored of it after a week because there a no really outstanding maps and the amount of weapons to unlock is nothing. Add more weapons and more memorable multiplayer maps, and make the campaign more like World at War and this game would own.

Awsome game, no probs. Was dissappointed to see it in dick smith the same day that I recieved it but for $30 bucks less than what it cost from Mighty Ape.

So far I am yet to tackle the campaign, but if its anything like the multiplayer, then its worth playing. There is hours of fun in the multiplayer maps and cool new features to make you even more deadly, I'm talking about RC cars, chopper gunner, that sort of thing. Nuke town is one map I'd recommend too!

Call of duty is one of the best first person shotter game in it's series the campain the the best of the best with super realistic with some things that make you fell like your in the game. Multiplayer is awesome lots of guns and game mods and the game is very smoth and easy. Zombies is a great pass time for you and your friends to just have some fun I say it's the best zombies game yet.

I bought an XBox for this game and im not disappointed, this game will take a life time of playing to finish the online aspect which is unlike anything ive seen before by far best game out!!!

Call of Duty: Black ops is quite simply THE BEST first person shooter out! Now I could ramble on for days, months, even years about black ops, but , all im going to say is, to anyone out there who does not have this game . . . . . . . . Well . . . . . . . . . .

This game is epic the gore and graphics are excellent and the gameplay is great

Its a shame that the change in zombies was minuscule but is still good this is a great game and an advancement on world at war :D

I waited in line for7 hours at a store and it was worth every minute. 11/10

Definitely the greatest CoD game released, in terms of storyline, features and community support.

Treyarch have taken a different approach to an FPS storyline, which actually makes this a pretty unique game.

There are tonnes of features and gamemodes, like the Zombies from World at War, as well as a lot of character customization and in-game currency, wager matches, and a theatre mode.

Though don't expect a lot from the theatre mode compared to Halo 3's and Reach's. It's clearly designed to be similar to Halo's as much as possible, but campaign films aren't available and the whole feature is more clunky and seems a little unfinished. (Game ending killcams aren't saved, that sort of thing.)

The game does let you upload video files you can then play on a PC or upload to YouTube like Halo, however this can be done in-game and is free.

Finally, the community support is excellent, glitches and bugs are acknowledged quickly and the developers can be made aware of issues easily on the website http://www.callofduty.com/blackops.

(Be warned, the game has frozen or glitched several times for me both in campaign and multiplayer, so I'd say it will take a while for bugs to be ironed out.)
