The book feels less about aliens and more about people who are able to shape shift as for most of the book the aliens are in the form of humans. Although 2 aliens are mentioned the “chameleon” character is barely in the book and seems to have only been included so an obvious confrontation between the 2 aliens can take place.

Really, the book is more a coming of age story about the changeling with some background detail provided by the scientists excavating a relic. The book is only 289 pages, which is good for a story like this, it won't take long to get through the book and i didn't feel that the story was boring or it dragged, just would have benefited from more action and more exploration of the chameleon character.

Description

Two aliens have wandered Earth for centuries. The Changeling has survived by adapting the forms of many different organisms. The Chameleon destroys anything or anyone that threatens it.
Now, a sunken relic that holds the key to their origins calls to them to take them home--but the Chameleon has decided there's only room for one.
