Candyman
Jordan Peele and Win Rosenfeld's Monkeypaw Productions, the filmmakers behind Universal's Oscar-winning blockbuster Get Out, has partnered with Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures to re-imagine the 1992 horror classic Candyman for a contemporary audience. Based on Clive Barker's short story The Forbidden, the film will be directed by Nia DaCosta (Little Woods), from a screenplay by Peele and Rosenfeld.
A ‘spiritual sequel’ to the first film, this new Candyman returns to the neighborhood where the legend began: the now-gentrified section of Chicago where the Cabrini-Green housing projects once stood. Production is expected to begin Spring 2019.

- " With its shadow puppetry, sophisticated reclamation of the Candyman legend and slick, confident filmmaking, even for those not thrilled by the idea of horror cinema more generally, it is hard to deny that Candyman is a massive and exciting step forward. " – Alexandra Heller-Nicholas
- " A compelling story that explores how urban legends rise out of traumatic injustices; how those traumas continue to haunt communities over generations; and how the victims of those injustices can be turned into monsters by the stories we choose to tell. " – Jennifer Ouellette
