"You wont be sorry you brought this game"

This is a great game. It's a tile based game where all players build castles, roads, churches and surrounding farm land collectively. Players place individual player pieces on these resources and gain points when they are completed.

The game is quick to play probably about 30 minutes. Though there is an element of luck( depending on the tile you pick up) It's a challenging game which allows you to utilise cunning strategy to advance your own interests, cash in on other players developments and to thwart opponents advancements. A game that can be played again and again without boredon seeping in. Its very easy to learn and the rule book is only about 3 pages long and is comprehensive and easy to understand.

I think this game would work for a variety of levels. Children over 7 would be able to pick it up. However, the subtle range of strategy that can be utilised make it a challenging adult game as well.

One of the better cheaper board games on the market. A great investment for anyone interensted in board gaming

"Most addictive game on the planet"
5 stars"

Review by Christopher on 20th March, 2016

This game may be a classic but it is still as awesome as it was upon its release. The inclusion of the River and Abbot expansions makes this even better. If you are looking for an attractive but relatively simple game to get friends and family playing together then this is a perfect place to start. If you are an experienced gamer this game can provide plenty of challenge too due to its relative simplicity – the fact that it is easy to learn doesn't mean it's easy to win as there are a ton of variables to consider. All up this game is a must own for anybody who wants a game play experience they can enjoy for life. You will not be disappointed guaranteed.

We love this game and play it as a family. Even our 5 year old has no problem and often wins! Does allow for strategic play too for the more serious. Great game.

"Great introductory game"

An excellent game for two or more players, simple to set up, easy to play, and great fun. While the end game scoring can get tricky when taking into account the Farmers, you can easily play without that scoring element at all to make it easier on new players to learn the game. Gameplay becomes much more competitive with only two players, as you are at least as focused on out-maneuvering your opponent as you are helping yourself. And because you draw twice as many tiles yourself, you can play less conservatively with the knowledge that you are twice as likely to get that one tile you need. Includes the River tiles, which is a great way to get the game started, providing some shape and direction to the map right from the outset – again, very useful for new players, but still can be beneficial for experienced players also.

"A good game for young and old."

Description

The Classic Award-winning Game Is Back With A Whole New Look! Carcassonne 2.0

In Carcassonne, players build the area surrounding this impressive city, one tile at a time. They then place a follower on fields, cities, roads or monasteries in order to score as many points as possible. These followers will become knights, monks, farmers and thieves, depending on where they are placed. No matter their function, the player who will most cleverly use their followers will win the game.

Entirely redesigned and modernized, this edition includes two expansions: The River and the Abbot.

"Worn, dented, scratched. That's how I would describe my Carcassonne box. Wrinkled, folded, spindled. That's my Carcassonne rules sheet. Scuffed, rounded, frayed. That's my Carcassonne tiles. It's all well worth it though, for Carcassonne is my most played game since purchasing it 5 months ago. In fact, the same is true for my games group, as Carcassonne was the most-played board game in 2000 (see my article on Games Played in 2000) and is on its way to be the most-played game of 2001 as well.

In this review, first I will go over the rules briefly, then I will discuss some positive and negative aspects about the game, and finally I will discuss some game strategies…" Read full review.
