Apart, however, from any commission from King Stanislaus, it is clear from papers now among the archives of the College that Desenfans continued to buy and sell pictures on his own account. He added considerably to his collection after 1802. In 1804 he insured his pictures, and the List of 124, then prepared for the Insurance Company, includes at least 85 which are now in. Our Gallery.
