Citizen Gangster
Edwin Boyd: Citizen Gangster is a Canadian drama film, released in 2011. Written and directed by Nathan Morlando, the film stars Scott Speedman as Canadian gangster and folk hero Edwin Alonzo Boyd.
Based on the life story of Canada’s most famous criminal Edwin Boyd, a WWII vet and family man turned bank robber. Dismayed by public indifference towards veterans and humiliated by his inability to fulfill his dream of being a Hollywood star or provide for family, Eddie is desperate and starts to rob banks. But what starts as friendly and flirtatious robberies, performed while wearing thick makeup, evolves over time into a career that leads him down a path of danger and tragedy.
