Game has a really simple idea and is at just the right level of competition. Not too happy-go-lucky, but doesn't bring out the aggressive side of that guy you know who takes games too seriously. It's cheap, fun, and great for almost any size group.

Once you've read the rules, and fumbled once or twice with matching your squares up properly, Codenames is an absolute fantastic party game. This game is definitely one that can change difficulty depending on who you're playing with – ridiculously fun, full of laughs and easy to play again and again!

This game is a brilliant gem. Word association and lateral thinking open up into a deeper strategy for experienced players. Players on a team can enter/leave at any time (except for the two Spymasters) so can play at the start/end of an evening as people arrive/leave.

A great 2 team game which stretches the brain with team members trying to guess how each other think. Great lessons in patience, tolerance and learning to adapt with a whole load of fun. Also a nice quick game so the fun challenge gets restarted every 20 minutes or so.

This is an amazing game to play with all ages, and a vary of ages! You can play with as many people as you want on 2 seperate teams and discuss the clues to your heart's content! The best part about playing with all different ages is that you can relate to different words and clues that each player might know!

Love this game! It’s easy to learn and a great group/party game. You can amend the rules to adjust the difficulty to suit the players. Younger players, allow them to use a short phrase for example as their clue. More experienced players, use the timer once clue is given. So many endless possibilities of word layouts and it travels well. A must-have for anyone who loves wordplay!

We played it Christmas Day. What an excellent concept for a game.

It’s actually quite tricky to find a common linkage for the cards! We find that we took too much time per team haha. We prefer this to the original harry potter version we got

This is an extremely fun game for the family or a group of friends! I highly recommend this game to all. I will definitely be playing this on quite a regular basis. Can be a mixture of entertaining, irritating and challenging, but guaranteed lots of fun along the way!

Codenames is a great game when you don't have much time or are on the run, the rules are easy to understand and pick up, the game is simple to set up, and each self contained round doesn't take much time. It's a great game to play with both close friends and to break the ice with others you aren't as close to. The game can also vary from relaxed to extremely intense which is a really awesome dynamic.

Fantastic to test how well the thinking patterns of your friends and family :)

Great party game. Easy to learn and easy to teach, as long as the people at the party haven't had too much wine. More fun with people you know well, but a great game still with strangers.

Great game, challenging at times, but interesting to see how your friends and families minds work. How we see a word, and we associate it, might not be how your friends see it.

Bought it as a gift for 11 year old & he rated it a 5 – he loves it!

I had to buy this game after playing at a friend's place. It's so much fun for everyone playing and it doesn't matter how many people play. People can also come and go during the game. The game is easy to play but it's hilarious to realise people don't think like you at all and things don't go as expected. Highly recommended. Maybe a bit challenging for children or people with limited English skills though.

Simple game yet can get complicated very fast! Great game for anyone that involves lot of thinking and yet so easy to pick up. Definitely recommended if you are looking for an easy board game to collect.

The theme – spies. Find your fellow agents, within the population, armed only with cryptic clues from your spy master (handler). But beware, tapping the wrong shoulder may spook a civilian, a rival agent or worse still, a double agent! This game is about word association, it's divided into two teams and relies on the spy master being able to get into the heads of their team and vice versa. Teams openly discuss suggestions and come to a consensus before making their play so works well across the age spectrum of reading age and up. Combinations provide lots of playability but there is also room for expansions and own modifications. The light, small box is easy to transport and store. For a light, easy to learn and play party game – a winner!

Fantastic game that I can't recommend enough

Can play with two, but works best with 6, two teams of three. You take turns trying to get your team to guess the secret code names of your agents without the other team guessing all theirs first!

This is a great, easy to learn game that is harder than it looks at first, but is still very fun. I can play this game with my friends who are more casual gamers, and with my friends how are into Relic, Battlestar Galactica, and Betrayal at House on the Hill. Just a fun, quick game I can play with anyone.

This is probably one of the best party games I have ever played! Its so much fun trying to come up with creative clues and trying to decipher them. Also, its simple and easy to learn. Awesome game that will fill the room with tension and laughter.

If you're looking for a game to get everyone in the mood for a good night of games, this is the one!
