Description

Excerpt from Collections of the Connecticut Historical Society, Vol. 24 George E. Hoadley in his early life followed mercantile pursuits. His later years were devoted to the home and to historical and antiquarian studies. He became a member of the Connecticut Historical Society on February 5, 1901, and later was elected a member for life. He had an exceeding fondness for the numerous and varied literary and antiquarian treasures that had been gathered by both his brother Charles and himself, and took great pleasure in exhibiting and explain ing these to his friends in the new home which he erected in his later life in West Hartford near the Hartford boundary line. There he passed away quietly surrounded by his treasures on November 21, 1922, in his eighty-sixth year. Neither of the brothers married.
