This expanded second edition introduces recent advances in the field and provides current examples. The book is concerned with design techniques to improve the performance of computer systems, primarily with those involving parallelism. In part one the intermediate subject area between basic processor operation and advanced processor design has been developed by the inclusion of a new chapter on processor design. A later chapter in part one now covers pipelined and superscalar processors in detail.
