I wish I could give this movie more stars–because I enjoy a good action/adventure film and I loved the mountainous landscapes and jungle setting–however, not even the excellent Laura Linney can lift CONGO from its mediocre trappings or save it from its otherwise terrible acting. You know going in that no film featuring Tim Curry and Ernie Hudson among its principal actors is going to be anything other than filler material–with an entirely predictable plot and ending in typically ridiculous 90's fashion–and the whole thing just comes across as a low-budget mishmash of Gorillas in the Mist, The Mummy (or Indiana Jones), and Dante's Peak…But don’t let that put you off buying or watching it, it was still a must-have for my Blu-ray collection.

A great animal story well scripted and acted out by a great cast including the lead actor “Amy” the gorilla. A movie that offers the trills of an African safari along with intrigue, suspense and action scene, a must-see for lovers of both Scifi and animal flicks.
