Corgi: 1/43 M Cooper S (Almond Green) – Diecast Model
The car modelled was built at BMC’s Longbridge plant, Austin’s original home, on March 25th, 1965 and despatched to distributors E. W. Jackson and Son Limited, Doncaster, on April 12th. They supplied it to Austin dealership McDonald’s in Mexborough, Yorkshire, who initially used it as a demonstrator.
In 2017, after some years off the road, it was restored to factory specification using the original matching-number components by Essex-based specialist J.D. Classics under the auspices of award-winning Mini restoration expert, Scott Turner. It was then purchased by Mike Cooper, son of John Cooper; the man who spotted the motorsport potential in his friend Alec Issigonis’ ‘District Nurses car’ and developed the Mini Cooper.
