Description

This controversial 1898 book played an integral part in the United States' involvement in the Spanish-American War. The author, a popular reporter for the New York Journal, was dispatched by William Randolph Hearst to cover the Cuban uprising. His vibrant reports, gathered in this volume, are brilliantly enhanced with 24 illustrations by famed artist Frederic Remington.

Author Biography:

Journalist, playwright, editor, and novelist Richard Harding Davis (1864-1916) was the first to write about the Rough Riders' charge up San Juan Hill. He also reported on the Boer War, the Mexican Revolution, and the German invasion of Belgium during World War I. Frederic Remington (1861-1909) is famous for his depictions of cowboys, Native Americans, and soldiers of the Old West. His paintings, drawings, and sculptures shaped the world's vision of the American frontier.
