Description

New York City's cult storytelling sensation, Dandy Darkly, has dragged his hilarious, horrific words off the stage and on to the page in his first-ever published compilation. These tawdry, ticklish tales of sex and death are not for the faint of heart. "Fantastical fairytale horror, equal parts Tennessee Williams, Edgar Allen Poe and Bruce LaBruce with a dash of Brothers Grimm for good measure." (Time Out) "A decidedly wicked storyteller." (New York Times) "Brilliantly written -- like something Joseph Campbell, Kenneth Anger and Paul Lynde would concoct after passing around a gourd filled with shrooms." (Chelsea Now) "New York City's preeminent King of Halloween." (Out Magazine) "Stories of gruesomely compelling verve -- a cross between Pam Ayres, Liberace and Tales from the Crypt." (The Scotsman) "Simply one of the most thoughtful, hilarious and harrowing queer talents at work today." (Scotsgay Magazine) "The Homer of the 21st century." (Washington Square News)

Author Biography:

Dandy Darkly is the painted, pontificating performance artist best known for his immersive storytelling that blends cabaret and spoken word with bespoke musical compositions and eclectic sound effects to create an utterly unique audience experience. To date, Dandy has produced four critically acclaimed solo shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with additional performances at the New Orleans Fringe, Frigid New York, the Queerly Festival, the National Steampunk Festival and the London Horror Festival. New York City's East Village is Dandy's playground with neo-vaudeville cavalcades at Under St. Marks Theater, the Slipper Room, Dixon Place and Stonewall Inn along with London's Royal Vauxhall Tavern. Dandy also hosts an annual secret performance every Bear Week down under Provincetown's infamous Dick Dock. In 2017, Dandy takes off on a multi-city US tour with performances and book signings in Chicago, Orlando, Tampa, Providence, San Francisco and more.
