Music was great but singing was a bit ruff, didn't sound as good as other live Purple recordings I've heard
Two disc (CD + PAL/Region 2 DVD) set includes a bonus DVD with DTS Digital Surround Sound and pre-concert interviews with all five band members. A titan among Rock bands, Deep Purple will always be closely associated with Montreux and were the number one choice to close the 40th Festival in 2006. They responded with a fantastic performance, their set blending classic Purple numbers with more recent compositions and not a little improvisation. The DVD also includes revealing interviews with all five band members – Ian Paice, Roger Glover, Ian Gillan, Steve Morse and Don Airey. As the replacement for Jon Lord, who departed the group in 2002, Airey has proved a perfect fit for Purple, his classical education enabling him to throw in as many Mozart references as his predecessor.
