15-year-old Kane Alexander is growing up in a single-parent home with her father and two younger brothers after her mother is sectioned. Her father is forced to take on two jobs to support his family and the responsibility of caring for the younger siblings is placed on Kane. She loves her family, but can't help but feel like she's missing out on life as a teenager. When her father shows no sympathy, Kane runs away, but doesn't get very far. Her new neighbours take her in, but Kane must try to work out her differences with her father.
