Ce travail s'inscrit dans les divers efforts destines a ameliorer la qualite de l'enseignement de la physique au Burundi. Il decrit d'abord le systeme educatif burundais et etablit un etat des lieux de l'enseignement de la physique au Burundi. Les lacunes relevees sont lies aux effectifs plethoriques des classes, a la formation des enseignants, au manque de materiel didactique. Dans le but de pallier ces manquements, un dispositif pedagogique complet a ete produit en creant un materiel didactique adapte aux necessites de l'introduction du concept de travail mecanique, pour lequel ce travail propose une introduction epistemologique originale. Avec beaucoup d'ingeniosite, des machines simples ont ete concues et fabriquees a l'aide de materiel disponible localement. L'efficacite de ce dispositif a ete questionnee en 2012 et 2013, grace a la mobilisation de deux experiences, realisees sur deux annees, l'une tres accompagnee par le chercheur, l'autre ou les enseignants ont travaille seuls. Le dispositif s'est revele efficace a condition d'offrir un appui pedagogique aux enseignants surtout pour l'usage de la demarche experimentale.
