Dice Throne is my favourite head 2 head card+dice game. It has the asymmetry present in video games like Dota 2 & Overwatch. It has strategy like choosing to upgrade your hero or modifying your dice. It has chance so its always possible to come back and get your Ultimate off to turn the tide of battle.
It doesn't have loot boxes. It doesn't have blister packs. The Season One box gets you ALL of the cards you need to play for each hero. Not only that, but the container is fantastic for storing each hero individually.
All of the heroes feel balanced with some having more complexity than others. This allows the player to choose how they want to play the game. Want to go the glass cannon route (choose the Pyromancer). Want to be super defensive and just outlive your opponent, choose the Paladin. Want to be a big beefy tank that hits hard, go with the Barbarian.
The developers behind this game are super awesome. They directly interact with the fans on their facebook page as well as Discord. These guys truely love their game and want to see others enjoy it. They don't seem to be money grabbers and that is why we see such a consumer friendly business model.
Season 2 is starting to be available on Mighty Ape, so if you can't find season 1 any more (as its now out of print), Season 2 is well worth investing in. Season 3 is right around the corner too which will add Co-Op scenarios play.
