I'd advise trying to forget all you know about the game while you watch this movie. Being able to ignore some simply egregious science fail would be a bonus, also (I mean, the sort of stuff that high school science students could correct them on. Sheesh). But for a tense action movie with a high body count? It's not bad. I've seen worse. The Rock is kinda hammy, but somehow here it just adds to the larger than life quality. Kiwi Karl Urban continues to show that you can cast him in absolutely anything and he'll give it his all.
No commentary on this disc, which is a pity; even with a less than spectacular film it's often interesting to hear about why the writer/directer/whoever made the choices they did. The only special feature that caught my attention here was the piece about the weapons training the cast received.
Try not to pay full price for this; it's never going to be your favourite movie. Probably best watched after midnight and with a drink in hand.
