Description

Evelyn Raymond (1843-1910) was an American author of juvenile fiction. She wrote a number of stories for girls, the most popular being her books about Dorothy Chester, and was one of the most popular writers of fiction for girls in the early 20th century. The first title in this series, Dorothy (also known as Dorothy Chestser: The Haps and Mishaps of a Foundling) was published in 1907 and tells the story of how Dorothy was found on a doorstep and taken in by postman John Chester's family. She grows up to be an engaging child destined for many adventures, including a kidnapping. Along the way Dorothy befriends a young boy named Jim who features in further books in the series.
