NZ sub-legend. First (I think) official release of all (-) the material this very talented guy recorded. Several songs he wrote were recorded by NZ band Human Instinct, whith I think he was a member of for a short period. He also did stuff with/for another couple of bands I believe. A few of the tracks have an atmosphere/sound similar to some Jimi Hendrix recordings while others are more sparse, in an almost singer-songwriter type vein. Check it out before the LP and CD pressings are gone. P.S. The CD version has 3 more tracks than the LP.

Description

Doug Jerebine is one of New Zealand’s (almost) lost musical legends – turning his back on a promising musical career in the early 1970’s, Doug joined the Hare Krishna’s and stopped making music.

The debut album he recorded in 1969 which was never released has seen the light of day, being released as Doug Jerebine is Jesse Harper – a nod to his on stage persona of the 60’s and 70’s.

The album might be over 40 years old but it still blows away just about everyone else trying to do that 60’s psychedelic blues rock thing that Hendrix conjured up. Doug Jerebine had that whole Hendrix sound down pat and, if he’d kept at it, could have been the biggest thing to come out of this country.

Available on both CD & LP. The CD has extra tracks (12 – 15) one from the Jesse period / three from the Brew / one from 2011 – a near 30 minute psychemedelic jam recorded with the World Band, the CD has images not available on the LP and New Zealand will be the only territory that releases on the CD format for this title!
