"Good game. Terrible distributor."
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I really like this game and it is a must, if you like intense RPGs with compelling story lines. Dragon Age: Origins allows you to play as a warrior, rouge, or, my personal favorite, a mage. Each class also has specializations that can be unlocked while you play through the game by completing different tasks, whether it be befriending one of you followers or dealing with a demon. I have nothing bad to say about Dragon Age: Origins. The Ultimate Edition is another story. I already had DAO for PS3 but by buying the Ultimate Edition I would save money as it comes with all the DLC. However. When I installed the game I found that my DLC code had expired. I emailed EA and they gave me a new one that worked within 24 hours. But another problem just came up. A very common one at that. Even though I have both the game and the DLC registered online to the email address that I use to log into the game, I am told that the DLC is unauthorized and therefore cannot be used in game. Again I contacted EA. After one person asked my for a screenshot of the message detailing the issue and one person told me how to download from the Bioware website, someone who knew what to do contacted me and told me to simply go into the file found at “C:\Users\admin\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings” back up the file called addins.xml or addins. Then to open addins.xml using Notepad and change all instances of RequiresAuthorization=“1” to RequiresAuthorization=“0”

My game now works and I am happy. If you buy this chances are you will need to modify the file too but it is easy enough to do if you use the Ctrl+F function to find what you need to in the addins.xml file.

"Great game. But remember to update to v1.05!" Purchased on Mighty Ape

Great game to play and provides hours of entertainment in anticipation of Dragon Age: Inquisition. However, just remember to update to v1.05 for the DLC to work. After installing and registering the game, update it straight after with the patch and everything will be sweet as. Link for patch v1.05: http://social.bioware.com/page/da-patches

"A very immersive game!"

Very entertaining even for the older RPG addict (even into the eighties), once the rather complex interface is understood and learned. But the training help to get through the first few levels is well-done.

"How to work DLC"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Sorry I'm slow in writing this but I bought this game a while back and found the DLC not working due to an expired code. This is now solvable as DAO Ultimate Edition has a v1.05 patch that will allow the content to work. This took a while to discover and the customer service was not helpful in this. Good game, service might need work.

Works perfectly, got all the expansions and Addons which is exactly what I was searching for. Only possible draw back is that you have to play with the disc in but that has yet to bother me so far. I also read online there was a work around to avoid that if it is a problem for you. If you haven't played this game and enjoy an epic, in depth story then start the trilogy with this Ultimate Edition. Dragon age is a game worth doing properly from the get go.

This is a great game. Good story. Lots of character interaction. A variety of challenges, not always solved with violence. It was a pity that the code to unlock the extra content had expired

"Great game long playing time"

Its a great package very much like Never winter Nights. The cut scenes can get a bit dull after your first run through.

"Best game I have ever played....ever!"

This game is ridiculously good. The graphics, game play and especially the absolute depth of this game. I’ve never seen a game so well thought out and with such a deep story line. Every single character in your party has an interesting story. If you are getting sick of just Hack/Slash and Bash games that don’t seem to have any real story and get very boring after some time, then its time to step up to this game.

100% :)

"V good story & dialogue, good graphics, combat gets repetitive"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Dragon Age Origins is without doubt an excellent console RPG. It has good graphics, a great story line, good realistic! dialogue and voice acting, and more than enough ways to configure your party (both individually and as a group). There are also ample options for managing combat, from heavily customising the AI tactics of each party member to pausing and issuing individual commands. There are plenty of fights, a reasonable mix of enemies and the enemy AI works fine. The dialogue scenes are great, and there is even some really good background chat between party members that occurs while you're walking around. There is also a lot here – this game will keep you occupied for long and generally happy periods.

So, what's holding me back from giving 5/5 to Dragon Age Origins for the PC- For me, it's because the combat grinds feel so artificial and so separate from the rest of the game. It doesn't help (for me anyway) that Dragon Age Origins separates the combat and role playing into distinct zones and then enforces console style combat (limited paths, automatic recovery of health and fatigue, targeting circles, etc.) in the PC environment. Maybe it's because I'm used to the immersion of the Elder Scrolls style of RPG where there is no clear boundary between combat and role playing (run into combat and you turn up tired; health doesn't automatically recover during combat; health and fatigue don't automatically return to 100% 15secs after combat ends; fights can spill into town; etc.) and where you can go anywhere you are physically capable of (rather than constantly hitting invisible force fields that limit you to 1 or 2 predefined paths). Whatever it is, the effect is that the immersion of the storyline and the setting is lost whenever combat starts (and there are a lot of combat grinds).

If you like console style RPGs with a great storyline, then Dragon Age Origins is a great choice. (Of course, this begs the question, Why run it on a PC-).

As for this package, it's an excellent deal, with both the Awakening extension and all the DLC content (fleshes out many areas of the game even further).

So, despite my reservations I'd give it a well deserved 4/5. Better perhaps on a console or if you are a heavy console player, but a good game at excellent value, overall.

For RPG fans this is a great game – marred with a few minor glitches (odd monster and character got stuck which slowed things down). Getting to grips with all the NPC tactics adds to the fun.

This game is honestly a pice of art. The plotline is loke a black hole. You want to know what happens next and cant wait for the next decision to be made. The gamplay isnt that bad either. This game is a must for all those oblivikon fans out there :)

Dragon Age Origins is a great game. The gameplay is fun and interactive. The Grapics are a great. I love how you can chosse the way the game is headed and the way people act towards you all depending on what you do. The Spells are awesome :D

Great fun and the banter between NPC's and yourself is hilarious at times. So many ways to do things, be good or be nasty. Only downside is some of the side quests and items can be very difficult to find, and I'm not talking about the actual quests, I'm talking about the graphical item such as the chasind treasure hunt in the wilds, those markers are extremely hard to see. Other than that the game is fun

"Wow. Just... Wow."

All the rave reviews I've been reading since this game was originally released can't even compare to the pure grandeur of the real thing. One of the best roleplaying games I've ever played, ever.

"An RPG that will last the Ages"
5 stars"

Bringing together all of the DLC's into one simple package, DA: Ultimate Edition is a must-have for any RPG gamer, enthusiast or otherwise. Featuring a well-worked storyline with a diverse and detailed party and a wide variety of classes, tactics and fighting styles, Dragon Age has something to suit everybody. The extensive online modding community for the PC version allows you to tweak virtually every element of the game, from the base textures and class skills, to hairstyles and all-new weapons, armours and environments, and means endless customisation to create the perfect character to suit your needs. One warning note: Make sure you have time to spare before buying this game. The original campaign itself will take about twenty hours to get through, and the enormous variety of possibilities availible to you throughout the game will keep you coming back again and again and again.

"Dragon Age with features."

I bought this again to get the save game state for dragonage 2, which is coming out in March, apparently. The central game is solid, the extras tend to give not only added storyline but allow more experience and better equipment earlier on making your characters more experienced earlier on in the game progression.

Viva la facist dwarf kingdom with gholem army.
