Dragon Ball Z Season 1 reviews

I bought this collection a few days back and have since watched it through until the end. Definitely worth it! The audio is excellent and the quality is good, but the best part is all of the uncut material that you didn't see when it first aired in New Zealand. Including the Japanese audio makes it even more worthwhile.

I had never seen DragonBall Z uncut before, Now it's like watching it for the first time again. This box set is hands down one of the best investments i have ever made. Plus the options to watch in Japanese version, US version & Japanese with sub-titles, makes this a must own set. I'm with-out a doubt grabbing every season available. Awesome!!!!

I've always wanted to watch dbz again, I'm very nostalgic about it from back in the day.

I had been keeping an eye out for a set like this but nothing ever caught my eye, sure you could buy the odd episode, but never had a publisher committed to delivering every single episode with such high quality video and audio.

This truly is the perfect buy for any dbz fan, but be careful, if you buy this, you won't be able to resist buying all the seasons!

I have no regrets about buying this DVD. It was better than i could have hoped for. All of the new sound/picture quality and technical bits were amazing, but every episode still had that nostalgic feel of good childhood times in the afternoon sun on the couch.

Well worth the $50. The one (and only one) bad thing about this DVD set is that I now want to buy the rest of them but i dont have the money! :S

Buying this set reminded me exactly why I was always so addicted to DBZ – because it's a brilliant anime! With the quality improved and a choice of American or original Japanese score, it's something any fan would love to receive – or buy for themselves!

(droul) my mouth salivated as i opened the parcel, to reveal the start of my childhood collection. this brings back so many memorys of my child hood. a great dvd parcel and tv series EVER. highly recommened for any dbz fan, great remastered fights and its UNCUT (hell yeah!) what more could you ask!

The remastered series has really bought Dragon Ball Z back to life. With no cut scenes, you get to see how the fights really take place. No more guessing what shot they made.

With the options of listening to either the Japanese or American audio, you can now enjoy it even more in the style YOU prefer.

This surprisingly is probably my favourite season. You wondering which season to buy might not purchase this one because there is no super saiyans yet, but that's why it's so good. You find out where all this power comes from. You also witness the first example of Gohan's amazing hidden powers. Also how much the quality has been improved, and an extra ten episodes. What more could you want! So, this may not seem like the best season but in my opinion 1 and 2 are the best.

While I'm happy there's finally uncut season packs of DBZ, this doesn't however outshine the fact that I feel these are incomplete.. Uncut DBZ is great. You finally get to see all the hits land. To really know the attitude of the characters however, you have to watch it in Japanese. There's always going to be the controversy about the English voice actors taking liberties with the script. cutting the swearing out and not really following the lines at all. While it's annoying, you really don't notice it if you've never seen the Japanese version. (However it was disappointing to find out).

With long long shows like these you wish they'd add a few extra options!! Like a marathon mode for example: just like “play all” except it cuts out the opening/closing songs and the “Last time on dragon ball Z!” bit at the beginning of every episode. Here's hoping they add this if they re-release on blu-ray

All up this is a great set, it's cheap and doesn't take up a huge chunk of shelf space. I'll be buying the rest.

An absolutely fantastic collection. The start of one of the greatest cartoons ever and the fact that its the original japanese film with english dubbed voices is just incredible. A lot had been edited out for the western release of dragonball z and this collection means you get to see all the good stuff.A must for anyone who enjoyed DBZ, or just anybody who likes action cartoons =)

Just to add to Nathans review, there was meant to be a marathon mode on every season set. There is a marathon mode on the USA versions on all of the remastered season sets. For some reason Madman didn't add the marathon mode until Season Four of the AUS/NZ versions.

such an epic series, feelings of nostalgia as i was transported to my childhood, running home from school and not playing outside because i had to watch dbz, the epic series we all love starts here and presented in great remastered quality. must have for any avid fan!

DBZ was a great show when it was shown on New Zealand televison. However this DVD box set is far better. The quality is far better with both the orginal Japanese and American background music. And with it being uncut it is so much more awesome, I literally jumped to my feet during the fights, it is amazing how much was cut out for tv. I have watched it many times and will watch it many more times.

If you are somewhat old and want to feel like a young boy again, buy this season, it rocks, and being uncut makes it even better. Well worth the hard earned moolah!

i loved this just loved it it has such good affects i think mighty ape has the best dvds, great condotion just loved it i really think you should buy it if you are a dbz fan or a fighting, fatasy fan. i reccomend it to you and others who are reading this

This is so great! I've been wanting to get DBZ on DVD for ages and now these perfect sets are out. No longer in parts, its actually the complete season 1! And plus it comes with bonuses as well as the option to have English voices with the Japanese music or American music. So it'll please every DBZ fan and I'm definitely purchasing the whole DBZ saga.

AMAZING .this is an understatement. I lived in japan (I am kiwi ,half caste) and Anime is so childish in this country. But to see it restored to its original glory is something could only dream of, until now. The voice cast is amazing with perfect potrayls of character by Chistopher R. Sabat(Vegeta/Pic­colo) and Sean Schemel (Goku/King Kai). Thank you Gp Store for offering such incredible Anime to New Zealand. ‚Ç‚¤‚à‚ ‚肪‚Æ‚¤‚²‚´‚­¢‚Ü‚·B

This was an awesome buy. It was cool to see blood coming out of the fighters and watching the punches connect. Looking forward to the next remastered seasons.
