The production, making it's premiere on London's West End, has been nominated for five Olivier awards including Best New Musical. Directed and choreographed by Olivier and Tony Award-winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Disney's Aladdin, Something Rotten!), Dreamgirls stars Amber Riley (Glee, The Wiz LIVE!) who is nominated for a Best Actress Olivier Award for her performance as Effie White. This brand new set was recorded live at the Savoy Theater and captures the on-stage exhilaration of the original London cast, the fourteen-piece orchestra and the audience. The album features the iconic songs from the musical including “And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going,” “I Am Changing,” “Listen” and “One Night Only.” Dreamgirls transports you to a revolutionary time in American music history, charting the tumultuous journey of a young female singing trio from Chicago called The Dreams as they learn the hard lesson that show business is as tough as it is fabulous. With book and lyrics by Tom Eyen and music by Henry Krieger, the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls opened in 1981 and won six Tony Awards. In 2006, Dreamgirls was adapted into an Oscar-winning film starring Beyoncé Knowles, Jennifer Hudson, Eddie Murphy and Jamie Foxx.
