I've never played a Souls game before but know their reputation. This game is incredibly detailed, has beautiful level design, indepth combat mechanics and compelling story / mystery.
It's also really hard. It feels like it's going to take 200 hours of gameplay to get close to finishing it.
Highly recommend.
This is my favorite game of all time, not only my fave Soulsbourne but all time. I'd recommend everyone try it even if you're on the fence about the difficulty
I can see how some people would love this game but it wasn’t for me. The open world was barren, and there wasn’t any real storyline or objectives. I get it’s made to be “difficult” in that sense, but without a good tutorial and not knowing how to do stuff off the bat, the game feels like one that you either (1) “know already” because you’ve played these kinds of “Dark Souls”-esque games, or (2) makes you feel like an outside who has no knowledge of what to do, where to go, or how to do it. It plays like you’ve jumped into a movie sequel without knowing the underlying story (or indeed anything) from the original. Again, I can see how for some it would be great, but it’s not for me. Hence the 3 stars.
