Enslaved: Odyssey to the West reviews

Enslaved has to be the lushest post-apocalyptic game ever – never have destroyed cities looked so good.

However you won't have a lot of time to look at the scenery – this game pushes you forward at a brisk pace as your captor frantically tries to get you to help her find her way home.

There's lots to like about this game, the gameplay mixes and matches activities to give some respite from the onslaught of mechs. The bridge mission where you get to use cloud is just so much fun. Platforming is pretty straight forward and doesn't get overly challenging until the final missions – even then Monkey has very sticky hands and will seldom fall. Combat is fast paced melee and the game doesn't long enough for it to become overly repetitive. A friend who watched me play said Enslaved reminded him of Jak and Daxter style gaming.

Voice acting is very good – Andy Serkis does a good job sounding like he genuinely cares for Trip despite being her slave and Lindsey Shaw does an excellent job as the ‘lost in the woods’ Trip – the story and associated dialogue are above average in my view for gaming.

It took me about 12 hours to complete and I felt it was worth the effort – the story felt right for the time. If you are after all the achievements then it will take another 12–20 hours to collect everything and do the game on hard level.

If there is one more thing worth mentioning it is the soundtrack by Nitin Sawhney – very evocative – it never gets hard to listen to this game music – I loved it.

This is a game that stands out in a small class of it's own, I look forward to playing more games by the developers Ninja Theory.

The game play is a nice mix between combat and exploration with a few puzzles thrown in. The combat itself is fairly basic but, enjoyable. Hunting around for all the Tech Orbs and the Masks is good fun.

The main reason you'll love this game is the story and the characters that populate it. They're well written and the voice acting is some of the best I've ever heard in a video game. Andy Serkis is the man! He voices Monkey and provides the motion capture performance as well The facial animation is excellent and was done by the same team who did the facial capture stuff for Heavenly Sword.

The graphics are beautiful as is the art design. It's great to see a post apocalyptic world done differently. If you've seen the tv show life after people, you'll know exactly what to expect. Lot's of lush green foliage surrounded by broken mechs and machinery.

It's a short, fun, well paced, cinematic game that deserves better sales than what it's getting right now.

Buy this game, you won't regret it.

I initially rented this game, and hadn't heard of it previously. Has gotten good reviews from IGN, metacritic, etc. (8.0+), but probably not advertised well. There's a great mix of combat and platforming, with a good storyline. It's well worth a play, as there are few games made like this anymore

Fantastic game literally couldn't put it down until I'd finished it. Which is perhaps my one complaint that the story didn't last as long as I liked. Still apart from one particularly bad camera angle it was a lot of fun.

The seller must be like us taking good care of his games no scratches or finger prints good quality plus the game was so much fun to play was so sad to see the end , would buy again Awesome!

I brought it cheap not knowing what it was, I was just after a game my girlfriend could play and this looked colourful enough but man was I surprised when I found out how engrossing the games story and world was. Fantastic story, Awesome environments and some gameplay different to the normal that has enough variation to keep the player engaged.

Well worth whatever you would spend on an older title.

Gameplay is mainly a blend of melee combat and Prince-of-Persia-style platforming but the mechanics are not as deep and engrossing as the leaders in that field. Fun gameplay style but has been done better elsewhere (e.g. The recent Castlevania reboot)

So based purely on the gameplay I would give this three stars… But on the other hand it has a great plot with extremely good characterisation and voice acting, well above the standard for the gaming industry generally. Andy Serkis is basically the world's go-to guy for digital acting now and by all rights studios should be clamouring to work with him. Caring about the story and the characters kept me playing through to the conclusion.

The end is a big shock and kind of leaves you stumped. Worth the game play but the storyline could have been improved. The work put into the gameplay and scenery was deffinately worth a go of it though.

The wife got this one a while back .. And man is it a cool game .. And the ending was a damn big shock .. But so cool ass-well ..

This game is well worth the money and time easy to play
