Author Biography:

Shannon Michal Dow has Master degrees in Education and Remedial Reading and Remedial Language Arts and has taught English and literacy for a combined 10 years at the secondary level and as a college tutor to both undergraduate and graduate students. She earned an ETS Recognition of Excellence for her performance in English Language, Literature, and Composition: Content Knowledge PRAXIS II. She also is a playwright and her plays and co-authored plays have been produced around the country and have received 19 awards and honors, including from the Julie Harris Playwright Competition, Beverly Hills Theatre Guild, L.A., CA; The Abingdon Theatre Company New Play Series, Off-Broadway, NYC; The Players Club, NY, NY; Writer's Digest Competition; Orlando Shakespeare New Plays Festival, FL; and the McLaren Memorial Comedy Competition, Midland, TX. Her co-written play, Killing Dante, was published by Samuel French, Inc. in 2008, and her co-authored book, Writing the Award Winning Play, a beginner's and intermediate's guide to playwriting, was published in 2003. She currently teaches English and literacy in Connecticut where she lives with her husband.
