Description

Until now there has been no single introductory book available for students or newcomers to transformation optics and metasurfaces to systematically study the basic ideas and concepts of this exciting interdisciplinary field. Including practical guidance, this book will allow those new to the subject, in particular for those interested in using inhomogeneous metamaterials for designing optical components, to immediately commence working in this exciting research area. In order to carry out the numerous examples in the book, it comes with full-wave simulation code.

Author Biography:

Jensen Li a senior lecturer at the University of Birmingham’s School of Physics and Astronomy and is working mainly on photonic crystals and metamaterials. His research revolves around various extraordinary optical phenomena given by metamaterials, with prominent examples such as invisibility cloaking and super-resolution imaging. His current interests are on transformation optics, metasurfaces and complex media. Apart from electromagnetic waves, he is keen on extending the concepts of metamaterials to acoustic waves as well.
