"Pleasantly surprised-very enjoyable"
4 stars"

I'm an oblivion lover, and haven't quite gotten over the fact that nothing has come close to being as good since-and its been a few years since I played it. I was really disappointed with Two Worlds so pretty skeptical about Fable when it came out. But I got it and was pleasantly surprised. It is cartoony, but that's part of its charm. There is lots to do and I think it is a good length too. My young son and I had lots of fun working out which were the best weapons for what and how to get upgrades. Being called a ‘chicken chaser’ for half the game before I worked out how to change that was a little irritating. I also like that this game highly re-playable. I'm looking forward to seeing how the game goes when I choose to be evil!

"I'm finding it boring."
3 stars"

A big part of whether or not you'll like this game is it's unique look. It has a very stylised, cartoony look that I really don't like but a lot of people probably do. So that put me off for a start.

In addition I dislike the how NPCs all glow either green, purple or red. Red if they're hostile, green if they have something important to say to you and purple if they're just passers by. You don't need this at all because the green ones correspond to green dots on your map, and you can probably tell a monster or bandit just by looking at it, right?

There are a few innovations that I found interesting for a bit, like getting hair cuts and tattoos, and the “renoun” feature. And you can get married and have sex which I'm sure you will get all excited about but they're all really just gimmicks.

There's respawn too. Every time you go through certain areas all the monsters have respawned, and I don't think that's ever a good thing.

The environmental graphics are nice, and it has it's own atmosphere. I just hate how everything looks so goofy. Including what monsters I've seen so far, with the exception of the werewolf.

At the end of the day though I'm just finding it boring. That might be because I just hate everything about it, I dunno.

I'll do you a favour and tell you that for some reason you can't save your game until after you've graduated from the guild. I don't know why that is or why they didn't think to mention it in the manual.

"Excellent game"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This game is excellent, it has an interesting storyline with several plot changing decisions you have to make. It gives you plenty of options to customise your character in so many different ways. Not only this, but each decision you make can change your alignment on the good/evil scale, changing the way people see and act to you.

"Great Game "
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Fable the lost chapters is the pc version on the Xbox title. It is a great game with an amazing storyline. The game length is great but it lacks replay value.

Combat is nice and is able to be customized to your liking. You need a mouse with a scroll wheel though or some actions may be hard. The magic is has nice graphics for a game of its year.

So in short The Good: Good graphics, addictive game play, great character customization

"Not an RPG but good!"
5 stars"

Fable is not an RPG, it is an Action Adventure game influenced by RPG like elements (leveling up, leveling powers, stats) what it lacks from the RPG element is the ability to alter the story and generally the length of an RPG story. What is it good at though is being a damn fun Action Adventure game with fun combat, cool spells and enemies that are just fun to kill! The story isn't shabby but it's far from ‘epic’.

The evil and good part of this game was sorely overrated and being either good or evil really did nothing save for make you look cooler and make villagers just cheer or run away from you. It really didn't effect the story at all only what you get at the end if your evil. Of course everyone took the evil option. xD Fable had decent graphics for its time with a nice fairybook feel for the scenery and colour palette.

There wasn't really much variation in armour and weapons with the ‘once I've got the best there's no point’ syndrome going on once you had plate. The wizard and bandit gear didn't do anything so there was really no point to wearing them. In the end the equipment system was rather flawed but it is still acceptable for a good old Action Adventure game!

I believe Fable is a great game! Just not the one that it could have been. Wasted potential that still has not quite been released yet even in Fable II.
