Fallout: New Vegas reviews

Did you like Fallout 3? Then you will not notice anything drastically different from New Vegas. Its all there… The choices you get to make along with friends or enemies of said choices. The Pip-Boy The bugs, and not the six-legged variety either. So is it worth the hype? Not really… I think it was more a victim of riding in the fan-hype of Fallout 3. The graphics, sound and voice-acting is what you'd expect New Vegas to be. So why did I get this game? I had so much fun on Fallout 3, I wanted a whole new area of the Apocalyptic wasteland to play in. Fallout New Vegas does just that, they've added a hardcore mode which I like, since I'm an old hand at the game hardcore mode makes it that much more interesting as ammo has weight, you have to watch food, dehydration AND sleep as new factors into traveling the wastes.

For those whom have played Fallout 3, you know what to expect. Bethesda have not really messed with the formula, they've tweaked it, added embellishments and kept the same tried and true methods that worked well in Fallout 3.

Newcomers to this genre/game would be advised to buy the Game of the year Edition of Fallout 3, it gives you more bang for your bucks

I would give this game Excellent if it wasn't so buggy but still one of the best ways to kill 100+ hours

Fallout 3 was one of the greatest games of all time, filled with plenty of quest and exploration. Fallout New Vegas is everything we loved about Fallout 3, with more quests and characters, but also more bugs.

The opening movie kicks the game off with a bang, quite literally and sweeps you away on a tale of revenge, akin to an old Clint Eastwood film.At the moment I think I am around 4/5 the way through the main quest and I can tell you now I'm hungry for more.

The side quests, unlike Fallout 3, are often long and satisfying, containing a decent sub-story to keep players interested. I have been playing for around 12 hours and have barely scratched the surface of games huge number of side quests.

The Mojave wasteland is vast and merciless,con­taining many monsters, thugs and friendly people. Also there are many settlements scattered around the wasteland to keep things interesting.

Sadly, Fallout: New Vegas comes with its fair share of bugs. Load times can be very unpredictable, with anywhere between 20 seconds and 3 minutes of load time. Also, after playing for a few hours my SFX stopped working. A restart fixed this and I have not encountered it again, however this sort of glitch should not be in a game. Also, while cruising around the New Vegas strip I noticed a prostitute floating above the ground, much like the Doc Mitchell glitch on YouTube. A patch has been released fixing these animation glitches, but its still a hassle, especially if you choose not to download the patch.

All in all, Fallout: New Vegas is a fantastic game which expands on its predecessor in every way, while retaining the gameplay mechanics that made Fallout 3 a success. Despite the many glitches, Fallout: New Vegas is defiantly worth your money and is guaranteed to keep you entertained for 200 hours at least.

It's true what others have said. This is like Oblivion but with guns. At first I didn't think I would like it but I purchased Fallout 3 with the bonus add-ons and I am lovin' it!

It is worth the purchase because you can log MANY hours into the fine story line.

I can't believe this didn't get the same rave reviews as Fallout 3 did when it came out – this is far, far superior to that game in every way. Hardcore mode is simply fantastic (makes for a much more realistic experience now) and the Mojave Wasteland is a much more interesting place to explore – no more same-same subway tunnels everywhere! I know the initial reviews were affected by problems with bugs in the first release but with the 1.04 patch installed I've had no issues at all, and it seems more or less everything has been fixed. Runs even better than Fallout 3 did on my PS3. Highly recommended, whether or not you enjoyed Fallout 3

First: the bad. Graphics are almost identical to Fallout 3, which are still okay to look at. But with a new release you would expect some bigger improvements. Character creation models have not changed since the previous installment. And worst of all, the game is RIDDLED with game-crashing bugs. I would play for ten minutes sometimes, only to lose what little progress I made when the game decides to freeze.

Despite the flaws, this game did offer more of the same good quality exploration and action of the Fallout franchise. Loads to do, with hundreds of interesting characters to interact with. Heaps of quests and locations to discover, a decent item creation system.

If you can put up with the bugs and crashes, then this game will prove to be a hit. If you can't, wait until the Game Of The Year edition comes out, and hopefully they will patch the holes.

Game is real fun at the start but then later on you usually get bored. Lots of glitches and lags sometimes but overall if you ignore all that then the gameplay is actually pretty good :P

Awesome game, there is soooo much detail that I dont believe anyone has ever realy clocked it. Admire the attention to detail and make GTA games weak haha.. Awesome and recomennded and ps if you update the game when you first play it, it wont freeze on you.

This really is a great game. Not much of a story but the gameplay is exceptionally fun. Pretty much exactly the same as Fallout 3 (mechanics wise) but you can aim down sight with weapons. Now that it is so cheap, you just can't NOT buy it!

I just can't say that enough.

Fallout: New Vegas continues a tradition of great Fallout games. Taking the Fallout 3 gameplay it builds on it with a wide range of quests spanning many hours of gameplay. The only thing dragging this game down are the multitude of bugs which still haven't been fully patched out.

Personaly i love fallout there is just so much to do, if u wana be hated by everyone then kill everyone, if you wanna be liked by everyone than be a pet , when i played new vegas i didnt take nothing from anyone but that is how i chose to play, like i said there is so much you can do!!! but they still could of improved the graphics…!
Also this game kept me occupied for ages!!

Those who played Fallout 3 and enjoyed it will surely love this game, it is basically a slightly tweaked version of that. On the positive side it still has easily 100+ hours of gameplay and an immensely deep storyline to engage in, but on the downside it is very buggy, even with the constant updates and patches for this game I still have experiences where NPC's or my character somehow gets ‘stuck’ in the ground or main characters even disappear completely from the map, but usually this can easily be fixed by simply re-loading from the last save.

While these bugs are annoying and off-putting they are totally worth putting up with for the amazing storyline(s) that you can choose to follow and the endless choices you are presented with, all of which can have a huge impact on how the storyline ends.

Furthermore the size and detail of the world you may explore is truly amazing, while the ‘map area’ may be smaller than that of Fallout 3 (IMO) the content is far greater. With more than twice the amount of weapons as Fallout 3, the ability to gamble at blackjack, roulette and other popular casino games, the new ability to aim down the sights of your weapon and a far greater selection of armour, perks and companions, not to mention the extremely realistic Hardcore mode, there is no doubt that New Vegas is better than Fallout 3 in almost every way.

This is a great game, I bought it as I wanted more Fallout 3, to me this is a huge add on the Fallout 3, this is exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately it is so freakin' buggy that sometimes I just leave it a few days before I can be bothered retracing the last hours worth of work. I usually save every 5 min or so as there is nothing worse than fighting a hard won battle to have the game freeze and not even the PS button will work. If you can deal with the bugs great game, if you can't don't bother you'll just throw it out the window.

Taking you into the mojave wasteland Fallout New Vegas takes the Fallout name to new heights. with many more weapons and now weapon mods, interesting new missions and many new factions for your character to join, which affects your overall gameplay whether you decide to be a savior of the people or the one they need to be saved from. Anyone who has previously enjoyed a Fallout before this is a must for your collection!!

This game is absolutely brilliant! A great move on from the original Fallout!

Obviously it's going to be hard to keep everyone happy. But I believe that Bethesda have done a great job of infusing good parts of Fallout 3 into an expanded / more detailed follow-up title. The options for variance in game play really impressed me [hardcore mode]. Trophy list seems doable but not gunna be an overnight exercise. All in all I think that it is a masterful creation that will keep me busy till GT5 comes out (when hell freezes over).

Just a personal point of view, Fallout 3 is far superior compared to Fallout New Vegas. You still get the basic feel of the original Fallout 3 but something felt missing in this one. Don't get me wrong, this game is still awesome and many gamers appreciate the Hardcore mode which makes game play more interesting, but that aside I would probably reccomend new players to play Fallout 3 Game of the year edition before playing this one.

Better than fallout 3 game of the year edition..don't worry guyz you will still find your fallout 3 gun's in this [guess rifle,telstra canon etc] also many great weapons [. 50,c4,granade machine gun etc] lastly you get lots of missions so you wont get bord by getting stuck in 1 mission..

Just plain boring. I likes Fallout 3. It was an very good game. Vegas is just boring. With so many bugs, it's just not worth the money.

Sure the fixes will come but so will other better games.

It has been a while coming but it was well worth it, absorbing gameplay and great setting. I highly recommended this game.

All I got to say is if you liked fallout 3 your love this one on this one you can upgrade and mod weapons thats what I find more then fallout 3. GET THIS GAME

This game seems to be fallout3 with none of the pestering repeatitive metro tunnels, ghouls, super mutants or random raiders and their traps.. Etc etc

Worth the price if you are into RPG shooters And lets hope in a year or two there's gonna be GOTY

What an awesome game you wont be disappointed with this title. Graphics are amazing, sound and gameplay are as you would expect from the wastelands. Has frozen on me 3 – 4 times which is annoying, but overall a great little investment.

this game is a shitta,its a uk edition thats being sold here and it freezes the ps3.it is a good game,but its a shitta wen u got to constantly save the game so wen it freezes u can go back to ur place b4,i would not and will not recommend this game to anyone not unlesss u want to reck ur console.

Blows away all the competition

I had high hopes for this game. I enjoyed playing it, it just didn't seem to hit the same highs as the last one, but still worth checking out if you are a fan of the previous title.

In staying faithful to the immensely successful Fallout 3 gameplay formula, New Vegas is a great but the scale and setting fall well short of its groundbreaking predecessor. In saying this, there have been some good changes made that remedy some the mild issues experienced in Fallout 3. Would recommend to anyone who has played Fallout 3, if you haven't, play that first before considering New Vegas.

By far my favourite game. The fallout series will never disappoint. Unfortunately Bethesda didn't make a huge effort to fix a lot of bugs so it crashes quite often. However it doesn't really bother me!

this gamw will keep you entertained for hours with so much to do and explore.it has a couple of minor bugs like freezing etc but you can put that a side it makes up for it in so many ways this is a must have game and for this price you cant go wrong!

Free roam rpg awesome, pip boy body part targeting system heaps of weapons mutants,robot­s,cyborbs. What more can you ask for =)

Just received this from mighty ape and I am already digging into the game. It had a greater impact than expected. First few hours and I am already blown away. I'll give it a personal rating of 8/10.

Despite all the bugs, Fallout New Vegas offers 60+ hours of content that will always satisfy.

I will just add though, same old same old with Bethesda bugs and random freezing.

Still enjoyable.

Although not my favourite game or a great game, this is a great way to kill 50+ hours. With a variety of weapons and enemies, freeroam and inventive targeting system, this game had the potential to be a top 50 game. However with all the bugs and having to walk everywhere to find new places, 1/3 of your time is spent thinking about whether or not to switch games.

One of the best games out there. A must buy

This is similar to Fallout 3 which is one of my favorite games. They are also great if you want to kill many hours as there is always something to do.

Pretty much a no brainer. If you were into any of Bethesdas RPGs (Fallout 3, Oblivion, Skyrim) then this ones for you. Huge world to explore, a ton of questing to be done.

The various gangs and your reputation with each adds a new consequence string to gameplay that's makes it a little more interesting. Plenty of DLC, plenty of fun trophy hunting. and V.A.T.S. is as much fun as ever.

More of the same RPG glory from the guys that do it the best, must have for any collection.

While the story may not be as gripping, and the technical execution may not be as polished, Fallout: New Vegas is well worth the purchase for any fan of the franchise, whether you've played Fallout 3 or not.

Hint : If your stuck on leveling your character, search YouTube for an Xp glitch which will get you to level 30 in a couple of minutes :) . Also if your struggling to gain CAPS search YouTube for Unlimited CAPS glitch. Very handy during the main quests.

Note : Save your game every 10 minutes when exploring the wastelands as the game freezes occasionally .

This game although not there best follows the tradition of bethesda's epic storytelling skill, and dynamic gameplay. Although it's predecessor beats it in the feel of a post apocolyptic world New Vegas' expansive deserts leave you to feel lonesome and unsuspecting of raiders along the tracks. Watch the story unfold in your own way as you make decisions that forge the world around you. Overall and exciting game that I thouroughly enjoyed playing through.
