"Amazing Game"
5 stars"

Far Cry is an amazing game. I think it basically defines the FPS genre. You find yourself fighting your way through tropical jungles, before plunging into dark oppressive cave systems. Weapons and gameplay are amazing, I seriously recommend this game.

Enemies are responsive, but the AI is somewhat archaic by current standards (mercenaries will crouch behind a box and stay there most of the time) but they certainly are satisfying to headshot. In later levels the presence of mutants, called trigens, keep you constantly on tenterhooks. You never know where they'll come from.

With five difficulty settings, you'll never fail to be challenged. Whether you want a ‘peaceful tropical island stroll’ or you have a death wish, there's fun for the whole family.

This is my all-time favourite game, I've clocked it about five times on every difficulty, I seriously recommend you get it. Its so cheap, you really don't have a reason not to.

"Enthralling"

Even today with such games as Crysis and STALKER I still find myself time to play the classics.

Far Cry is one of the better games I have played in recent years which still keeps me coming back for more. There's a good mix of action, graphical punch and varied environments to keep you gripped 'till the climax. AI is pretty cunning but can be a little heavy handed (adaptive AI seems to make the game a bit easier to play without killing the challenge) and there's plenty to wander around and a take a gander at on the island. This ability to stray outside the paths intended by the developers makes the game much more spontaneous and challenging as there can be many ways to accomplish a set objective. My one minor irritance would have to be the story which is probably one of the loosest and poorly thought out pieces of writing I've encountered in awhile, second only to Painkiller. The story seems to only be there to tie levels together (which it barely does in my mind; I didnt follow it 90% of the time) rather then to further a plot which is convoluted and full of gaps.

When all is said and done, I definitely recommend this game to those who want a challenge with some great variety and style. Don't be put off by Far Cry's Semi-sequel, this game actually has some substance.

"Difficulties"

Sadly some computers will not run the program, as it is a 32bit game. Still struggling with sorting this out.

This game is…I mean…goodness me!!! Just thinking about it I get chills of excitement and a rush of adrenaline. Hats off to the new comer CryTek for developing such a wonderful game. This game is just breathtakingly beautiful. Often times I'd just sit around the beach and relax after fraggin' a couple of baddies. In that sense, it's a true holiday paradise. Graphically, this game is years ahead of all others. Same goes for sound. The only thing holding it back is the ridiculous storyline and awful dialogue that you can't help but feel is hoky for a reason (it's a perfect example of the industry saying: “Plot in video games is like plot in porn, you don't need it whatsoever, yet everyone expects it.”) This story isn't meant to be taken seriously, it's a game that's mean to be fun and entertaining, which it is on both accounts. This game belongs in everyone's collections. The only other quirk here is the fact that you need a massive system to support this game. Even the minimum requirements won't suffice for you to truly enjoy it. Unless you have the latest ATI or nVidia GPU (the several hundred to thousand dollar kind), don't bother; however, if you do have a high-end GPU, jump right in to paradise.
