Artist and author Makiko T. Orser is passionate about giving people open-ended possibilities to discover their inner creativity, whether they consider themselves artistic or not
Author Biography
After graduating from college, Makiko worked as an editor for a children's magazine at Sanrio Co., Ltd. in Tokyo. She collaborated closely with artist for renowned characters such as Hello Kitty, Pochacco, and many others. Makiko also contributed on comic book stories, novelty items and greeting cards.
In 1998, Makiko moved to San Francisco to pursue her passion in design, earning a graphic design degree from the California College of the Arts.
In 2002, Makiko moved to Michigan with her husband and started a portrait photography business, Orser Studio, which has been very successful.
As Makiko's family grew with two darling daughters, her passion in her illustration and design grew stronger, too. Makiko's love for children's books and art keep her creating new work every day. She illustrates and designs books, posters, stationary, patterns as well as hand lettering fonts.
