Let's make one thing clear: this game does not play like a traditional Final
Fantasy game. There are no experience points, levelling, or random encounters,
and the entire game is over in about 10 hours.
The game plays like a collection of minigames, although there are regular,
lengthy sections of free-roaming adventure. For example, after a two minute
introductory cut scene, your character is falling through the air, shooting down
birds in a lightgun-esque game. Shortly after that, you are piloting an airship
as it slowly makes a crash landing, and after a short free-roaming section, you
are chasing a ferret through crowded city streets.
The game does an admirable job of creating a large detailed game world for
you to explore and experience, with almost no loading screens. While the story
is not the strongest in the franchise, it does a passable job of moving you from
set piece to set piece. As long as you make sure you are fully aware of what
you're getting into when you buy this game, you will have an enjoyable
experience. 7/10
