Gears of War 3 reviews

Now my review is based on the first day that I have spent with Gears of War 3 and already, it refuses to let go. Judging from the screens, I'm pretty sure that you already know what to expect from the graphics department.

Gameplay wise- Well, it is your typical Gears formula with plenty of taking cover and shooting. However, it has been beefed up because guns feel more powerful than ever, with the Retro lancer being most definetly welcome.

The campaign puts the last two Gears games to shame, let's put it at that.

The multiplayer- Well with dedicated servers, matchmaking is faster so you don't have to wait for an eternity in the lobby. This also means that there is no more host advantage so expect less ragequits online because you have just as much lag advantage as the other guy. The game modes themselves are fun and Capture the Leader is a must-play. I can say with confidence that Gears 3's multiplayer is one to be played for years to come.

Now I do not know what to say about Horde and Beast mode because I am not generally a fan of fighting endless waves of enemies. But with that being said, Gears of War 3 is worth its full price for the exquisite and robust Campaign and Multiplayer modes.

If you are a fan of the past two titles, there is no excuse for you to pass on the superior-in-every-way sequel.

Ive been a massive fan of the gears franchise from the start, and while im sad that this game wraps up the trilogy, it does it with some serious style!

First up the new horde mode is fantastic, just as challenging as it was in gears 2, but it really ramps up the challenge with every tenth battle being against a boss, want to slay that brumak- eat your heart out! And as usual its even better with friends, me and my mates are going to get some serious mileage out of horde 2.0

Beast mode is another awesome addition, learning all the strengths and weakness of the different enemies is awesome fun, even the humble ticker has its own cool uses such as destroying barriers, or just blowing people to bits, if thats your thing.

The campaign is truly bigger, clocking in at around 15 hours, maybe longer if you go after the collectibles. The story is far more focused this time around, with all lose ends from the previous games bought to a stunning end, and epic has gone above and beyond to make this the most polished gears yet, the set pieces are amazing, the lighting system looks beautiful, smoke and explosions have never looked so good, and the new extra brutal finishing moves never get old.

Theres just so much I want to say about this game, but I could be here all day.

This game has exellent graphics and it is amazingally adicting. Gow 3 is very good for achievements aswell, They are very easy to get and there is 50 achievements to unlock. I overall think this game is great but it could be a tiny bit better. :)

After playing MW3 for last nine months purchase GW3again after a while and found that MW3 improved my gaming therefore the purks of game were alot cleaner to utillies game play 10 plus pity both games were not combined. 10 +

It's amazing

The third and yet just as great as the first, this trilogy will always be remembered as one of the best story's with the best characters, action, graphics and epic battles to ever hit a console.

Even though a little old now, with the new Gears Of War: Judgement. But this, is definitely a classic. Multi-player AND Campaign are both a joy to play. All round GOW3 has without question raised the bar yet again. Now for GOW judgment…

Typical Gears of War, brutal action with heaps happening!

Now this is a must play for all you gear heads out there .. Just love this game .. Really kick ass .. Got all the gears games .. And this one is the best .. So its a must buy ..

Was a good game. Too short but still fun, good player vs player modes

In my opinion this and skyrim are extremely close as they are both amazing, but I'd have to say I enjoyed this more. Simply amazing and everyone with a 360 needs it

The game play is extremely smooth and stunning graphics. Campaign was filled with action and dramatic moments like if you were watching a movie. Multiplayer was excellent because you did not have to queue that long for matches. The only issue with this game is when is the next sequel coming out-

8 months since the fall of Jacinto, living aboard the aircraft carrier Ravens Nest off of th island of Vectes. Locust which have been fused with the imulsion that once powered Sera, threatens both humans and locust alike.

New characters and weapons have been introduced into Gears of War 3. New allys, including Samantha Byrne, Anya Stroud and Bernadette Mataki as 3 playable female characters. Also Jace Stratton and Clayton Carmine, the third carmine brother. New weapons such as a double barreled shotgun and a Pendulum War-Era Lancer have been introduced, also the Digger launcher and the One Shot, a powerful weapon which kills any enemy with one bullet.

4 Player co-op has been introduced as well as a all new multiplayer mode called Beast mode, where you play as locust surviving waves of human AI.

Itense campaign, great multiplayer, probably the best gears yet

The only problem I have with GOW3 is the length, like most modern games they lack a decent campaign. CAUTION: they have amped up the blood and gore in this one (I didn't think it was possible, but they have), if your squeamish AVOID. If not, the executions will make you cringe :D, there are some very “imaginative” (sick) programmers out there and some of the best worked on this. If you have a 360 you NEED this game (assuming you have GOW1&2, if not WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN-).

Tying off all the loose ends that gamers have wanted to know since Gears1.

Great game! The third installment of the gears of war series features many new features since gears of war 2. Horde is back as well as the all new beast mode. Great buy- highly recommended

Gears of war 1 and 2 awesome Gears 3 is Fantastic. It's cheaper than games like COD and it is way cooler.

I found that if you are a new player to this game they put you into a {new player lobby} which i found to be very friendly, what i found very ood is that you needed to play all three of the games to unlock key items and it really puts the gamer to skill when he/she has to go back and go though the storyline/mulit­player.

Awesome is the only word to sum Gears of War 3 up in 1 word. Everything is bigger & better than the previous 2, and I haven't even cracked into it online yet!!!

Gears of War 3 corrects everything that was wrong with Gears of War 2 online, and to me is the new benchmark for online connections. As a New Zealander and a keen multiplayer player I have constantly been frustrated by lag. Gears of War 3 has nearly zero lag a feat i thought impossible. You will not regret owning this game, and if Gears 2 to you off now is a brilliant time to come back to the franchise.

This GOW is the best GOW yet. The graphics is so flipp'n awesome, thanks to the unreal engine! I would highly recommend to everyone, no matter if your young or old. I love this game so much I can not stop playing it! Just add this to your trolley and proceed to check out now and get this game now!

Loving the 3D action! Another Grim but beautiful installment from GOW

The best Game I have played this year loving every moment of it I recommend this game for all xbox 360 fans.

GOW3 is an awesome game. It sums up the series in great style (With plenty of gore!). The upgraded horde mode is highly challenging and beast mode finally gives us the chance to play as the Locust! Highly recommended :)

More of the same, which is great if you love or are new to the GoW series. Graphically rich. Great sound. Clunky but well suited and functional controls. Story passable to move the game along. I expected as much, but something couldn't keep me away regardless. Still a triple A class game. Any Xbox owner needs to own a GoW game and it might as well be this one!

Good follow on from 2, great story line, great graghics, cant wait for 4, just a whole round awesome game, would recomend it to all players

With Campaign, Mutiplayer, Horde 2.0 and Best mode, Gears of War 3 gives you more bang for your buck. If you love shooters, you’ll love this game.

i have been waiting for this game for a very long time, and the wait was worth its time, there will not be a beter 3rd person shoter game out this year since this is out now, a must buy to any shooter lovers

The campaign plays brilliantly either by yourself or with a friend. It's always focussed and you are never left wondering “So… What am I doing again-”. There is a ton of action, drama and horror packed in to the substantial storyline as well as some funny easter eggs along the way. The campaign does end with some questions left unanswered, no doubt to encourage gamers to buy online content. If and only if you are prepared to spend the dough on extra content, is this game for you. The multiplayer is good too, but again, it needs downloadable content in the form of maps to make it great.

Just love the game and even more the service from Mighty Ape.

The campaign has a great story line and amazing new features/game-play. Online side of things are also really fun, I personally thoroughly enjoy the horde and beast modes, as they are really challenging and yet rewarding.

Gears of War 3 has the tightest graphics of the epic trilogy with a satisfying end and mean new versus types!

You've seen all the other reviews so why bother talking about all the weapons (the new and the old skool) and all the new playable characters.

For me, the emotional storylines added depth to the characters which had been either skimmed or focused solely on Dom. And the graphics and clear colour distinctions added another layer not present in the previous two games.

If you want to fill in the gaps between GOW2 and GOW3 then buy the books. They make for interesting reads. Also available from Mightyape :)
