Description

Excerpt from Germelshausen The present edition of this interesting and popular little story of Gerstacker's was undertaken at the request of the publishers, and it is hoped that the book will be found useful in the early stages of the beginners' ci forts to learn German. The notes are confined to what seemed absolutely necessary help for these stu dents, when preparing their lessons. The appended English exercises, based on the text, give an opportu nity for more or less drill on the elements of the gram mar and for the mastery of some of the more impor tant idioms. Under the personal observation of the editor these sentences have been tested in connection with the review lesson, not without success. Grate ful acknowledgment is here made to Dr. F. H. Wilkens, the colleague of the editor, for many useful suggestions. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
