An interesting adaption/compi­lation of the original anime version which I loved. Appreciative of them including some of the iconic scenes from the anime versions. Cons Unfortunately they tried to cram everything into one film leading to some confusion at times. I think making one or more sequels and introducing more elements of the originals would have led to a better paced offering. Scarlett Johansson and the rest of the cast fitted the characters perfectly I felt. Overall very enjoyable rendition.

This film has two very different levels at which it can be viewed, and this is the second time I have caught Ms Johansson doing a deep dive into a philosophically interesting story. “Lucy” is the other one. A cyborg with her human brain and altered memories finds that she is more human than she at first believed. It may be the distant future of the human species, but I think it will be a lot more difficult than the film makes it appear. The deep question of what makes us human is (I think) answered incorrectly at the end, but IS confronted directly. That is unusual.

I found it worth the time but I suspect it is not for everyone.
