Description

Archeologist Barry Short is back on the scene after having fled Egypt in the closing chapters of "The Blue Nile Adventure." He sneaks back into Egypt in "Gitane Marie," after being summoned by Hans Bueller who made an amazing find: A mysterious, unidentified goddess statue buried deep in the bowels of an ancient monastery. Where was this goddess statue made and by whom? Why was it hidden away for hundreds, maybe thousands of years? And who are the clandestine men in hot pursuit to capture the statue and return it to oblivion? Will Barry survive to find the answers to these questions in his mad dash out of Egypt and across Europe? Not without the help of others. Together, Summer, Rosalind, Madame Conti, and Cinzia are able to plumb the nearly unfathomable depths of the goddess statue's meaning in what turns into a kind of unintended pilgrimage.
