God of War reviews

God of War is a must-play experience for any PlayStation 4 Gamer. Easily one of this year's Game of the Year's the music, environments and story are excellent! The characters are funny and enjoyable and the bonds developed by Kratos and Atreus are fantastic to see develop. For old fans of the series, there are plenty of nods but the game is definitely different from prior installments. Newer fans, this is the perfect start to the series; enjoy! You'll be in for a long ride.

So let's give the game some ratings.

Story 8/10 Without giving anything away, the story of the >Game< is overshadowed by the >Series<. God of War's story plays out like they've already written how they want the franchise to go and in a franchise about prophecy and fate that's good to see. Unfortunately this leads to the detriment of the game's story, in which you are left wanting more. Side Quests however are fantastic, Brock and Sindri will be your best friends.

Music. 10/10. Just experience it. Environments. 10/10 Just look at it.

Uh what else-

Oh combat. 8/10. To older fans of the series the combat is not the same, so don't expect the usual hack and slash you look for in a God of War game. I recommend rebinding some of the controls (an option which is available) because some of the buttons combinations can be . . . Difficult when using them in tandem. Fights in the game range from turning everything into frost to having a Dark Souls experience. To be honest the more challenging fights in the game for me weren't even the ones in the story but rather the fights driven by a certain late game side quest.

Overall: The game is a nearly perfect, a myriad of tiny imperfections subtract a tiny bit and the game's story is vastly overshadowed by what it's makers really want to tell in the future. It is very much a reboot. But it's a damn fun and damn enjoyable reboot. Enjoy, experience and try not to hold onto the Ghost of Sparta!

From epic cinematic boss fights to intimate character moments, this game has it all. It proves that games are capable of being wonderful pieces of art.

So easy to deal with and super fast delivery!! 10/10

Boy! Stop reading reviews and get this game. Chop down trees, not with your axe but with anyone dumb enough to cross your path. Your axe, possibly the most satisfying weapon in video game history, is for everything else. Spectacular in every way, this experience will leave you spent like you just blew all your Hacksilver at the casino last night, and woke up with the guys from The Hangover. Except you have the cool facial tattoo instead.

Haven't fully played the game yet, but every aspect has been definitely thought out and we're given a bigger view as well to see what else could he hiding from us. GREAT GAME SANTA MONICA!!!

I haven't even finished playing this game and it's already my favourite. If you're on the fence of getting it, just do it. You won't regret it. Trust me. Can't even begin to describe what an incredible job they did on the art, characters and game-play. There are no awkward scenes, the atmosphere keeps you completely immersed in the incredible story and the main characters are so lovable in their own ways. The game-play and story are quick and straight to the point. The chapters are very long but definitely worth it. Definitely a lot of room to explore and complete missions at your own pace. One this I love is when you're out exploring, there is a lot of dialogue between characters, eg. stories that Kratos tells that let you know a little more about the characters and honestly just add to the atmosphere. Also, the fighting is epic. It's my first God of War game I've played and I haven't had a problem with keeping up with the story line. SUCH A GOOD GAME

I loved this game when new, the world you play in is amazingly beautiful, the stylized combat is fun, challenging and pretty to watch, the characters are interesting and it really leaves you wanting more… but after a couple of hours the game play can become a little repetitive same bosses and creatures you come up against in the early game just different levels of difficulty, puzzles are the same with just a little tweek here and there to make them different the only thing that keeps you going in the end is the story. But dont get me wrong i would certainly buy this game again.

So I'm going against the grain here, but I found God of War to be mostly dull with some memorable moments. While it's visually stunning and the single shot camera is a great creative achievement, the actual gameplay isn't special.

The combat is more layered than it needs to be, bloated by special moves and combos that are both unnecessary and don't really add anything. Far too many bosses are copy-pastes with minor changes. Outside of combat, the game is padded with collectathon garbage that (apart from the apples) add nothing of value to gameplay.

And what about the characters and story- Well, Kratos is aloof and boring, while Atreus is whiny and annoying (you'll get really sick of him yelling “Nista!” everytime he shoots an arrow), and both are one-dimensional.

Finally, (SPOILER ALERT) for all that's made of the Norse gods being malevolent and intolerant of outsiders, only 2 of them actually appear in game and you only fight one.

In short, this game is woefully bloated and padded, with unlikable characters, and feels more like a stretched-out prologue.

Seriously, I’f your on this page and reading this comment you need to stop… scroll back to the top click add to cart because every second you wait is another moment in time that you are missing out on the greatest game of our time. My Steam, PSN, Origin & Uplay accounts total over 250 games and this my friends is the best… just a note, play it on a 4k tv with a PS4 pro to really emerse yourself.. enjoy!

What a masterpiece! magnificent story, great graphics and voice acting and above all else, superb game play. God of War is a must play if you are a PS4 owner.

This game far surpassed my expectations! Being a massive fan of the original trilogy I was rather apprehensive at first but this game blew my mind! The team put 6 years of work into GoE and it most definitely shows! Looks forward to continuing the saga!

A fitting sequel to the series. Nice to see Kratos actually getting older and wiser instead of remaining young and angry. The gameplay differs quite a lot from previous entries, but the story is a perfect blend of old and new. Buy this.
