Goodfellas is more accesible in terms of realism, when it comes to the main characters, than the great ‘Godfather’ of the gangster movies. There is a sense of real danger in their everyday lives, and you get to follow the main character through his rollercoaster of an existence. I would class this as Ray Liottas best performance, and for once narration in a film that really works. The second disc brings in some heavyweight new directors to add their praise and overall this is an excellent package.
