You've been betrayed and left for dead. Now you're taking revenge, unless the city gets you first. Mob bosses need a favour, crooked cops need help and street gangs want you dead. You'll have to rob, steal, and kill just to stay out of serious trouble. Grand Theft Auto III set new records in the console world and is currently the most widely known title in the UK. Now, created from the number one selling video game of the 21st century, Grand Theft Auto III is about to arrive on PC.
GRAND THEFT AUTO III FOR THE PC is a fully immersive 3D game environment that recreates the experience of a gangster left alone to his own devices.
The core story revolves around the player's experiences whilst visiting Liberty City, the home of Grand Theft Auto 3. Beyond an initial cut scene, the player has no history, and no past, but the story has to propel the player through an experience, which may last up to a hundred hours. The aim is to completely immerse the player in the role of a gangster within the game environment. When the lead character presents himself at the start, it's left to the player to define the pace, and direction the action will take as multiple storylines unfold.
As the game starts, the player is in a prison van being transported across town. He was arrested for a bank job, during which he was betrayed by a Puerto Rican temptress, Catalina, who disappeared with the money, leaving the player to die or rot in jail. Suddenly, the local Triads wanting to free a fellow passenger (a mysterious Oriental Gentleman) blow up the prison bus. The player and the only other prisoner, a large African American bomb expert called 8 Ball, make a run for it.
Every single texture in the city is now much higher resolution than the Playstation 2 predecessor, and many more colours are now used, which weren't before.
The distance of view is now customisable, so you can tweak the game to run well on almost any system!
All new replay feature allows you to recapture all the cool action of GTA3 for a second time, recording up to 30 seconds worth of footage.
The player can now change the amount of people and vehicles on the streets, so Liberty City can be as busy and alive as you want it to be!
All the original PS2 controls are still there, with a completely new method, which gives the player complete control over the camera, and allows you to aim all the weapons yourself.
Full support for keyboard, joystick, mouse and other PC peripherals.
An increased frame rate, allows for a completely revolutionised physics engine, which means smoother and more responsive handling and movement than ever before!
