Each book looks at historical controversies and what people believed before, tells the stories of the scientists who worked on each theory including any opposition they faced, and examines how the theory was arrived at, how it was tested, and what impact the theory has had on our understanding of science today.

Author Biography

Louise Spilsbury is a prolific children's book author. She has written titles on almost every subject, from science and geography to world affairs, social issues, art, history, and literacy. Louise is married to author Richard Spilsbury and has two children. She lives and works in Devon, England. Richard Spilsbury is an experienced author of nonfiction books for young people. He has written about a wide range of topics including science, nature, and history. Dr Jen Green worked in publishing for 15 years and is now a full-time writer who has written over 200 books for children, on geography, the environment, history, natural history, and other subjects. Her Heinemann-Raintree title on Sustaining Our Natural Resources was selected in 2011 for the Junior Library Guild's SLJ Curriculum Levels program. Nick Hunter has written many non-fiction books for children. He has a degree in Modern History and specializes in writing about history and social studies.
